| When should we change beds.... | | for my toddler? She is 2 1/2 and still in her crib. When should she move to a big girl bed? I think it should be now but my husband thinks she is too young. We have an 8 year old but can't remember when he went to a big boy bed. My husband is worried about our daughter getting up out of bed and roaming the house. I told him we put the child gate up in her door. What are your thoughts and methods you used? | |
| | sleeping situation--would love your help!! | | My daughter is 15 months old & sleeps with me and my husband because this is the only way she will sleep through the Night. I have tried putting her in her crib, but the minute I lay her down she wakes up and screams. I've tried the self-soothing and laying her in her crib while she's awake, but she screams & screams. People who say babies will eventually quit screaming.. we'll mine's the exception. I was wondering if any of you have the same problem or if you have any good ideas for me to try to get her to sleep in her own bed? | |

| Toddler Beds | | We were given a toddler bed - and it's really nice! It's a wood frame with sides about halfway down to keep a toddler from rolling off into the floor...and you just put the crib mattress into it when your child is old enough to use it. The thing is, since it was given to us, I'm not exactly sure when my daughter is old enough to transition out of the crib and into the toddler bed. We do foster care, babies only, so it would be nice to free up the crib, but I don't want to rush things...I can always get another crib if I need to. I'd still like some input/guidelines as to when children move from the crib to the toddler bed. THANKS! | |

Keep in mind that the theme of her room will be something along the lines of disney princess. I want something girly and cute but not over the top. | When did you switch your children to toddler beds? | | My daughter is 20 months old and I'm starting to wonder if she is ready for a toddler bed. Here lately she has not been wanting to sleep in her crib at all. It seems like she will sleep anywhere but her crib. She will sleep in our bed, the couch and even on the floor. But when I try to put her in her crib she flips out. Even if she is already asleep she will wake up as soon as I lay her down in her crib. I'm wondering if I set up a toddler bed if she would sleep in it. But I don't want to rush out and buy one just for her to not want anything to do with it. So when did you all switch your children to toddler beds? How did you know they were ready? | |
| | Big girl bed | | Some of you may remember my discussion a few weeks ago about my daughter and her sleep problems. Well that weekend I decided to go ahead and get her a new bed. I found an excellent deal on a really nice toddler bed including the mattress for only $40. It's an all wooden bed with a really nice mattress. I can't believe the girl sold it to me for so cheap. Anyways my daughter loves it! She has been sleeping great since we got her that bed. Most nights she will sleep through the night. And the nights she doesn't she just gets up and wonders into bed with us. And when she's back to sleep I will put her back in her bed for the rest of the night. I was orignally going to get her a twin bed since everyone keeps telling me toddler beds are a rip off and don't last long. But I couldn't turn down a $40 bed. And it will at least last until she's 4.I just can't believe my little girl is growing up so fast. First she's in a big girl bed and now potty training. Where does the time go? | |

| | Twin Girls. Too young for toddler beds? | | My partner and I have 20 month old twin girls. We currently have the "family bed" sleeping arrangement. They do have a crib, but it is more frequently used as a clean laundry sorter. We're discussing getting them "big-girl beds" from Santa this year. I'm a little concerned about how the switch is going to go however. Any suggestions? | |

| switching over to a toddler bed | | my son just turned two feb 5th. we still have him in a crib, only because he hasn't tried to climb out of it, so i figured he wasn't ready for a toddler bed. tonite, we broke down and bought him a "cars" toddler bed. i was wondering how to transition him over to it?
i was thinking introduce it during the daytime when we do nap, and see how it goes from there. also, do you keep toys in their room?
since he's able to get out and be around are toys a good idea? maybe a few so if he gets out of bed he's busy and not screaming for us to come get him? (we are gonna put a gate at his door), he can open doors, and sooner or later the gate we have in the hallway, if he wants to, he can climb over it.
just need some ideas, anything will help!!
