| Pet Peeve About Public Restrooms | | One time or other during the course of our busy lives, we might have to use a public restroom. The condition of the average public restroom is one of my pet peeves. You can go into a department store and find it in such nasty conditon.
Many times you see the sign on the back of the door where the attendant is suppose to initial where they cleaned the bathroom. There are no signatures. I always wonder who at that place of employment is required to do the cleaning. Do they take someone off the register for 'their turn'?
I also wonder how many abide by the sign posted in many restrooms--Employees must wash their hands before returning to work.
I know almost everytime I use a public restroom, I see people who just walk out without washing their hands.
What things have bothered you about public restrooms? What would you recommend to fix these problems? What do YOU do to prevent picking up the germs of others when you use a public restroom? What is the most discusting story you have about using a public restroom?
| | womans bathrooms and baby changing tables | | I think it is so unfair that only womans bathrooms have a baby changing table in them. I have heard of a few mens bathrooms that have them but it is a rare occurence. I think this is sexist. What are your thoughts? | |

| When do you quit using the changing table? | | My daughter is 15 mos. old and has always been a happy, easy going kiddo. Lately, when I go to change her diaper, she is rolling over a lot, kicking, and she's really 'wiggly'. She's not crying or upset - it's more like a game....but I'm wondering if she's just too old to be up on the changing table, and it's time to change to the next stage. And then, what DO you do next? Change them on the floor? Change them standing up? I don't see that working with a really poopy diaper, but I'd like to know what to try next that will be safer and easier for both of us. Thanks so much for your help! | |
| | Baby's head and furniture corners! | | Parents should be careful with furniture corners near babies and their diaper changing tables! Some friends of mine have a baby who fell when he was having his diapers changed and hit his head! The photo shows the resulting bump on his head! He was taken to the doctor and even a neurosurgeon was consulted, but he reckoned that an operation would only be necessary for cosmetic reasons and that the baby would be alright.
If you cant disappear the furniture, then at least you can pad it to prevent accidents like this!

| bathrooms! | | Do you moms think that all bathroom in any stores should have changing tables? | |
| | Baby changing stations - or lack thereof!!! | | I took my kids to McDoonalds the other day and had to change the baby. I took her to the lady's room only to find that there was no changing station. This is a restaurant that caters to children - many of whom are either still in diapers themselves or have siblings who are in diapers. Since then I have checked the washrooms in "family" restaurants even when I don't need to change the baby. There are alot who don't provide this courtesy. Am I the only one who finds this a little irritating? I was tempted to change her on the table, but restrained myself and changed her in the van. Sorry for venting!!!! | |

| Leaving a baby | | I was at the doctors office yesterday morning and had to go to the bathroom. When I went in, there was this woman changing her granddaughters diaper on one of those pull down changing tables they have in bathrooms. I heard the grandmother say about she really needed to go and it seemed like that she was going to leave this baby who was only 3 months old, and if I remember right, that is when babies start rolling over. And I remembered that this child was not strapped in. So I said if she would wait, I will watch the baby, she said she couldn't wait. So I hurriedly washed my hands and went over to the baby to make sure she didn't fall off.I didn't say anything and now I think maybe I should have said something like, maybe in the future she can have someone to help her or to get one of those baby seats to strap the child in. When I went out, her husband was with her, so I don't know why she didn't have him change the baby or just have him hold the baby until she did her business. I just hope in the future, that she doesn't make this a habit..What kind of dangerous things have you seen people do with babies? Did you say anything? Did they take your advice well? | |
