Consumer Friendly Products
If you could buy a cordless phone that took standard batteries, would you buy it?Why do we have products that are so not consumer friendly? A specific example is cordless phones. These devices generally have a battery pack that you must replace sometimes yet no one makes a cordless phone that uses standard batteries. So you must go to the store and spend far too much then is necessary to replace the batteries. Often it costs as much to replace the battery pack as it did to buy the product in the first place! What is even more amazing is that these products often do actually use regular batteries packaged with a special connector so that you must get their special replacement battery. One of these phones a friend gave me had a hard plastic frame with connection points on the back. The phone had issues so I broke open the frame and removed three Nickel Cadmium batteries which I am still recharging and using in other devices. Seems this is an untapped market to me. I mean WHAT A NOVEL IDEA! A company that offers consumer friendly products that people want to buy because they make sense, they are user serviceable and meant to last.If a company decided to wise up and offer...
What is the best item/ gift you recieved for you baby? Most use out of?
We used the baby swing a lot. We finally took it apart. Sad day. Our son is now 8 months old and no longer uses it.
Tis the season ... Please at least read this (it's kinda long)
With the holidays coming up a lot of people are buying gifts & donating to charity. In high school I always looked forward to helping others out during this time. But this year things have gotten a litte stressful, and I haven't been able to take charity as far as I like.My son is 14 months old, I have a 4 month old who is still in the NICU after having 70% of her small intestine removed & I am pregnant again & have a cyst covering about 12 my left ovary (very painful). But I am trying to get a toy drive started for the children in Medical City Dallas, in the NICU. They need rattles, teethers, books, lights & sounds mobiles, batteries for mobiles, baby swings, artifical Christmas trees w/ lights (helps them focus on far away objects), blankets, socks, and clothes for 0-6months (it gets cold up there), even plastics toy boxes. They can't have teddy bears or other stuffed animals because it can cause an infection & kill them. But some parents can't visit every day, and so some of these babies will be spending the holidays alone.:(I just wanted to share this info. Please let me know if there is a good way to get a toy drive started & be...
Baby Swings...
Did they stop making the wind up baby swings? I would love to get one of those because these battery operated ones get very annoying. I have an infant who enjoys being in her swing but i hate having to always replace the batteries in it. my toddler likes to swing in it while his sister isnt in it and after a while replacing the batteries gets a little costly. Does anyone know if they stopped making them or if they still do make them and if so where i can find them?
Are there any nice play parks in your local area?
The play park nearest to my home is for older kids and it is in poor repair. The one a little further away is suitable for my two year old son. It has baby swings, a roundabout and a slide. Yesterday I took him to a play park half an hours drive away. It was a special event day with a bouncy castle, face painting and all sorts of play equipment for disabled children. My fourteen year old son felt too old to go so I took my six year of niece. She had a very exciting and enjoyable time just like my son. Are there any nice play parks in your local area? What is your nearest one like? Do your kids like a particular type of play equipment?
