| | Any electric train hobbiest out there? | | My husband was insistant that we get a train to go around the Christmas tree. I did a little research and found that the idea size is the O scale train. They aren't cheap. Anyway, after searching online, we ended up going to Hobby Lobby and finding a $200+ Lionel electric train set for $100! It just so happens to be an O scale:) It was a little more than I planned to spend (we walked out with 36 cents in our pockets)lol, but overall I am very pleased. It seems that my husband is even more thrilled with our purchase than I am, and now wants to turn it into his new hobby. I was just wondering what we need to know before purchasing accessories such as more cars. I would think that we could add any O scale buildings, trees, people, etcIf anyone can add to this topic it would be great. Just any little thing you may know about train sets would be helpful.I can see already that this is going to be even more expensive than his video gaming hobby.lol | |

| some brain bending Q's and answers for it.. Must read it.. | | Question 1: What gets bigger as you take more out of it?Answer: A hole, brainiac!Question 2: You are traveling on an electric train north. The wind is headed south, against you. You make two 45 degree left-turns. The wind doesn't change directions, and the track doesn't twist. When you're about to stop at your destination, what direction is the smoke from the train blowing, if the wind speed is stronger than the train's speed?Answer: Nowhere. An electric train doesn't blow steam.Question 3: You and your family drive from your home in South Carolina (which is a state on the east coast for those of you who aren't familiar with the location of states in our country) to the beach. That takes you about an hour, as you don't live too far away. You and your family sit on the beach, waiting for the sunset. It doesn't come. There is nothing blocking your view of the ocean. You don't look the other way or close your eyes. There isn't some once-in-a-blue-moon eclipse or something that is affecting the sunset. Why don't you see it?Answer: The sun sets in the west for those of you checking your compases. Here's just some jokes:... | |
| | What is your favorite Christmas Memory? | | Mine happened when I was 8 years old. My dad was living in Massachusetts and I flew out there to see him for Christmas Break. Believe it or not, I still believed in Santa Clause back then. My grandpa, who lived with my dad..."video taped" Santa Clause coming down the chimney and putting gifts under the tree. He even left a message for me on the tape telling me I was such a good girl that year. They even went so far as to put soot footprints on the floor around the fireplace. I know it sounds cheesy...but its seriously my favorite memory. | |

| On giving and receiving | | We have this saying that it is better to give than to receive. There are researches that say being at the giving end could be as destructive as being at the receiving end. Being at the receiving end, you tend to be lazy, dependent, loss of self respect and have this belief that we owe them charity. To the giving end, they tend to have this superiority complex that somebody depend on them, and a means to self gratification thereby losing the essence of giving as making somebody as the target and not the self. How can we make this giving and receiving an enobling and gratifying act? | |
