| | What can you say about the movie ERAGON? | | I really like this movie a lot and I think that you'll love it too. Its like lord of the rings but in a different way of course. The main character was a dragon rider. | |
| | Eragon: Did dragons really existed? | | Recently I've watched eragon and its quite a good movie. A dragon-rider's quest to battle evil and defeat darkness. Dragons and Men - together.
This made me think, did dragons really existed?
| | Looking for book recommendations - I've depleted my lists! | | Okay, I have pretty much read everything there is to read for my favorite authors and all of the recommendations I've received from friends and I'm at a loss for what books to try now. I read a couple that really disapointed me and I picked these up on the off chance they might be good, they weren't. So please help?I'm looking for dark books, vampires, dragons, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters - I love fantasy. Romance is god, but not necessary, magic is a bonus. Something with mystery, fantasy, horror, all rolled into one is a real plus in my book.I also like period pieces, although it's been a while since I found one that caught my eye.The last book I read was Robin McKinely's "Sunshine" - fabulous. My favorite authors include Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Marie Brennan, Mercedes Lackey, Stephanie Meyer, L.J. Smith, and Charlain Harris. I've read Kelley Armstrong's series and I loved that as well.I've tried to read L.A. Bank's series, gag me with a spoon. Ditto that for Savannah Russe as well.Any recommendations? | |
| | | My Eragon Review (Warning, spoilers included) | |
In January, my husband and I decided to go to the movie Eragon. We had just finished reading the book outloud together, and he really enjoyed it. I had read the book once before and I absolutely loved it. It is one of my most favorite books, so of course when I heard there was going to be a movie made from it, I was so excited! I waited nearly a year for this movie to come out, and after a year's worth of excitement and anticipation, I finally got to see it. And guess what? It SUCKED.*Let me start off by saying that I fully understand that there is no way humanly possible to fit every single detail from that book (and a lot of other books) into a feature-length movie. It just can't happen. Now, Peter Jackson (the director of the Lord of the Rings movies) and his screenwriters did an absolutely phenomenal job adapting from the books to create the movies. Did he leave parts out of the movies that were in the books? Absolutely. And that's okay, because the movies at least did the books justice and would have made Tolkien proud. The movie Eragon, however, does not even come close to doing the book justice and I bet Christopher Paolini wanted to cry himself to sleep after...
| | Was Murtagh's conversion crushingly obvious? | | Near the end of Eldest, in the midst of a dramatic clash on the Burning Plains, another Rider appears on the scene. After some time spent engaging this new Rider, Eragon unmasks him. Surprising absolutely nobody, the extremely powerful Rider is Murtagh, who was believed to be dead.
Was it just me, or was this plot twist bone-crushingly obvious? As soon as Eragon thought that Murtagh was dead, it became obvious. Galbatorix would never just take Murtagh without sending notice, and Christopher Paolini would never kill off a character as good as Murtagh. From that moment I knew that Murtagh was his brother, and the next Dragon Rider.
Did anyone else feel that this was a huge setup? I thought that it was. Now, the question becomes, how to get Murtagh back. Since Galbatorix knows Thorn and Murtagh's full names, he can control them however he likes. Now, the question becomes how to become strong enough to compete with Murtagh, and how to learn Galbatorix's weak spot, or his real name.
Discuss Murtagh, his Ridership, and all related plotlines.
