| Do you have birthday parties for your kids or do you take them out? | | When my girls were small I always had birthday parties for them at home. Usually I would bake and decorate a special cake for them. The one that stands out to me is a cinderella doll cake that my youngest daughter wanted. I made that thing from scratch and she was beautiful! We invited all of their little friends and cousins and always had a great time. Then my son was born! The first few years I had parties at home for him too until Chuck E. Cheeses came into being and that was the end of that. Everyone was having their parties there so that's where we had a couple of his parties. I wasn't too happy because it felt so impersonal to me but the kids loved it and it was for them after all.Which do you do? Parties at home or do you take the kids somewhere that they enjoy? What is it that you REALLY would rather do? | |
| | The Cinderella doll that I knit | | This is a doll that I made from a Jean Greenhowe book. It is one doll that transforms into another doll simply by lifting up the skirt part of her dress and turning her over. Jean Greenhowe calls it a topsy turvy doll. I don't know if she invented this style of doll but her designs are very well done. I hope you enjoy it. I uploaded just one picture because I don't know how to upload a second file. If anyone knows how, please let me know. | |
| | The other side of the Cinderella doll I knit | | I did not know how to add another picture file on my last discussion about the Cinderella doll, so I am starting a new discussion. Sorry if this is not the proper way to do it. This is what the doll looks like when you turn her upside down and flip over the skirt. Instead of being the pretty princess she is now the poor, dirty looking scrub girl. I hope you like her. She is from a Jean Greenhowe pattern. | |
