| So who likes Asian horror movies? | | Lots of asian horror movies are seeing major North American remakes and distribution. 'The Ring' really started the whole Asian horror remake fad gripping most of North America now, followed closely by 'The Grudge'. Remakes of 'The Eye' and 'Pulse' are set to come out within this next year.
My favorites, though, are the originals. From Japanese to Korean and Chinese, I have a list of my favorite ones that includes:Ringu
Dark Water
Ju-On: the Grudge
Barking Dogs Never Bite
Uzumaki
A Tale of Two Sisters
Whispering Cooridors
Memento Mori
Wishing Stairs
The Eye
Premonition
The AuditionThere are more I have watched and did not care much for, such as Living Hell and Unborn but Forgotten.
So those of you out there who like asian horror movies, recommend so to me. List your favorites and why you like them!
| | "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens | | Have you read this book by Charles Dickens? I thought I was going to hate it, b/c I started reading A Tale of Two Cities and didn't like that book, but Great Expectations is actually pretty interesting, there is a thief, and there's assault, and a crazy lady (Miss Havisham), and mystery, and a little bit of a love story. Miss Havisham is my favorite character, I feel sorry for her even though she's mean. | |

| | Do you like horror movies? | | I do and always have. When I was little, I'd watch scary movies, then my hyperactive imagination wouldn't let me sleep at night. The first few times, I convinced my parents to let me sleep with them because I was so scared, but then they got fed up with it and said it was well deserved, since I was watching those kinds of movies! But I would still watch them, and stay awake all night, with cold sweats of sheer horror. Now, I'm not scared of horror movies anymore, but I still enjoy them (because I think being scared by them, experiencing true horror that is, in reality, harmless, is a key ingredient of horror films). I also like extreme films, I think they are very cathartic. You watch the most vile, gruesome things, and then you're "purged" and get on with your life. Some people think watching these movies is "sick", but I believe society needs and has always needed them. Greek tragedies were often pretty gruesome, around the time Shakespeare "Titus Andronicus", gory plays were EXTREMELY popular. Public executions were attended by thousands of people screaming for blood and guts. Some people claim, I have heard, that society today is lacking that cathartic effect of not seeing... | |

| | Do you think the 'Classics' are classic... | | Some of the books that are considered 'classic' aren't ones I find all the interesting as a rule. Have you read some classics? IE: Tale Of Two Cities, The Sun Also Rises, Catcher In The Rye and so forth. Do you think the books are as good as they're praised to be? Which ones? | |

| | Isn't this interesting about 2 houses | |
LOOK OVER THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING TWO HOUSES AND SEE IF YOU CAN
TELL WHICH BELONGS TO AN ENVIRONMENTALIST. HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on
a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In
ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American
household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural
gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we
checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the
national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or
Midwestern "snow belt," either. It's in the South. HOUSE # 2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this
house incorporates every "green" fe ature current home construction can
provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is
nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in
the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes
sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.)...
